Day of Prayer and Penance this Sunday
The President and Vice-President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales have written to Cardinal Sfeir of Lebanon to assure him that the Catholic community in England and Wales will respond with generosity to the appeal of the Holy Father to keep this Sunday, 23rd July 2006, as a special day of prayer and penance."With confidence, we write to assure you that the Catholic community in England and Wales will respond with generosity to the appeal of the Holy Father to keep this Sunday, 23rd July 2006, as a special day of prayer and penance."

I thought we werent supposed to do penance on Sundays...only Fridays?

nice letter. the patriarch in lebanon is such a holy man. i've seen him several times. born in 1920 he's now elderly and i regret that this new war is breaking his heart.
